Successful cooperation expanded

Students present their project at ALTANA in Wesel

As part of an interdisciplinary project on the topic of "Emerging Market for ALTANA", 28 students of the bachelor degree programmes "Mobility and Logistics" and "International Business Administration" had the opportunity to present their results to the ALTANA Group, represented by Dr. Forstbach (President Division ELANTAS and Chairman of the Management Board ELANTAS GmbH) sowie Dr. Norbert Flüggen (Chief Sourcing Officer) in December 2018.

Supervised by Professor Dr. Kalhoff and Dr. Seidel, the students developed a comprehensive concept to analyse possible future international markets of the company, to evaluate opportunities and risks of a corresponding expansion and to determine optimal distribution channels. The project team was actively supported by representatives of the company. One of them was Mr. Gandouz, a former student of the Faculty of Communication and Environment, who successfully completed his Bachelor's thesis in the "International Business Administration" programme in cooperation with ALTANA and is currently employed as a project manager for the Emerging Markets division. Through the regular exchange, the students gained a comprehensive insight into the various business areas of the international chemicals group which has got more than 52 production sites and more than 60 service and research laboratory locations worldwide and were able to deal in detail with topics such as market analysis, risk management and sales channels.

Following the successful presentation of the project, there was an opportunity to discuss the results over lunch.

The ALTANA Group intends to continue its cooperation with the university in the future. On the one hand, certain aspects of the existing project are to be further developed, on the other hand, completely new possibilities for future cooperation are to be identified.
