Award for Professor Dr Frank Zimmer
Professor Dr Frank Zimmer, Professor of Computer Science and Software Engineering at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, has been recognized as one of the best professors in Germany. UNICUM BERUF, a popular magazine for university graduates in Germany, has selected him as the second best Professor of the Year 2016 for the category ’Engineering / Computer Science’.
This year, students, employers, graduates, researchers and representatives of the private sector nominated close to 1,250 professors for the Professor of the Year 2016 competition held by the graduate magazine UNICUM BERUF. Of this large pool of candidates, Rhine-Waal University’s own Dr Frank Zimmer, Professor at the Faculty of Communication and Environment in Kamp-Lintfort was awarded with the second place prize for his excellent and practice-oriented methods in teaching and research.
Professor Dr Zimmer’s students regard him as a ‘coach’ who not only motivates, but also bridges the gap between work and education thanks in part to how he is able to incorporate his network of industry contacts into his teaching. This was a convincing argument for UNICUM jury, which saw him as a professor that effectively prepares students for future careers.
