Idealism or realism? Working routines in politics – From teamwork to "elbow" fights

On 16 May, the Faculty of Society and Economics will be hosting yet another exciting Career Talk: Philipp Krieg, currently Manager Communications and Political Affairs for E.ON SE, will be speaking about his work in the European Parliament and his current profession. He will trace back his career path for you and explain which decisions and encounters led to his current position. Furthermore, he will provide insights into different fields of work in the EU, discuss entry positions and give an overview over career options both for Europeans and non-Europeans. After his talk, we will hold a Q&A session where Philipp Krieg will answer your questions. All students and staff are cordially invited to attend the Career Talk and learn more about this interesting topic through the eyes of an expert with first-hand experience.

The study course International Relations, B.A. presents the movie “Die Gewählten” („The Chosen Ones“ or simply “The elected ones”). It’s a movie that accompanies 5 young politicians from different parties on their way into the big politics of the German Bundestag. They all wanted to bring change, make an impact, but could they reach their goals? The movie observes the five ambitious politicians in their daily struggles of bureaucracy and stagnated democracy and tries to find out which ways they use to fight for their ideals.
