Gender medicine, which systematically takes gender-specific differences into account, is also becoming increasingly important in sports medicine. The insights gained from this make it possible to tailor exercise and training concepts specifically to the individual needs of women and men. This not only improves performance, but also reduces the risk of injury and supports recovery.

At Fibo in Cologne, students on the Master's degree programme in Health Sciences and Management from the Faculty of Life Sciences at Rhine Waal University of Applied Sciences not only had the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of current developments in gender medicine in sports medicine, but also to address other issues - such as how an active lifestyle can be promoted or how training therapies for chronic illnesses can be designed on the basis of the latest scientific findings. The students also had the opportunity to meet people from the healthcare sector in person and make valuable contacts. The visit was accompanied by Prof. Dr Robert Renner, Professor of Health Promotion and Nutrition and head of the Master's degree programme, and Heike Holtappel, research assistant at the Faculty of Life Sciences.
