As part of this year's graduation ceremony at the Faculty of Life Sciences, the 1,000 euro prize was once again awarded as part of the graduation ceremony for the Master's degree programme in Health Sciences and Management. The award recognises a particularly outstanding Master's thesis that is characterised by scientific excellence, social relevance and practical relevance.

This year's prize went to Lena Bongers M.Sc. for her thesis entitled: ‘On health literacy as an individual resource for the health behaviour and stress experience of actors in healthcare professions in Germany with recommendations for action’. The thesis impressed the jury with its sound methodology, innovative approach and high relevance for the healthcare sector.

‘With this award, we want to make excellent scientific achievements in the field of public health and health management visible and motivate young female academics to actively contribute to the further development of the healthcare system,’ emphasised Dr Wimmer from the Unternehmerschaft Niederrhein at the award ceremony. The award-winning work deals with the hitherto little-researched topic of health literacy among healthcare professionals and provides important impetus for practice and research.

The Graduate Prize is awarded annually by the Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences Sponsors' Association and the Lower Rhine Entrepreneurs' Association and is intended to promote particularly committed students who make a visible contribution to solving current challenges in the healthcare sector with their final thesis.
