Prof. Dr.-Ing. Stéphane Danjou

Research fields and academic career

The main research field of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Danjou covers the computer-integrated product development which includes a wide variety of areas of product engineering as well as miscellaneous interfaces to other disciplines. Especially interfaces to modern manufacturing technologies such as additive manufacturing (3D printing) are part of the focus. In addition to the non-sector-specific development or optimisation of methods and applications to efficiently support the interdisciplinary and cross-company product development at an early stage, the research activities focus on method development to particularly integrate product and process specific knowledge into the product development process.

In order to reach application-oriented results, all activities happen in close cooperation with the industry as well as within the faculty (also with other professors of different disciplines).

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Stéphane Danjou first successfully completed an apprenticeship as a draughtsman at Siemens AG Power Generation (formerly known as Siemens KWU) followed by mechanical engineering studies at the Gerhard-Mercator-University in Duisburg (today University of Duisburg-Essen). With the main focus on technical design and conveyor technique he finished his studies with the degree Dipl.-Ing. Subsequently, Stéphane Danjou worked as scientific assistant at the local Institute of Product Engineering and received a doctor's degree (PhD) with his dissertation about "Multi-Objective Optimization of Part Orientation for Rapid Technology applications".

After a short initial position as assistant of the management board of the company MSK Verpackungs-Systeme GmbH, Stéphane Danjou took over a leading position as Technical Director with managerial responsibility (personnel and budget) for the technical departments. In May 2015 Stéphane Danjou took over the professorship for Mechanical Engineering and Plant Design at the Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences. Since that time he is concerned with application-oriented teaching and research.
