The members of the Faculty of Society and Economics at HSRW are also appalled by the invasion of Ukraine. On March 23, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. (Campus Kleve, Lecture Hall Center Building 01, Room EG 005), scientists with different specialist focuses will discuss their different perspectives on the current situation in Ukraine with the students. The scientific discussions and lectures (in English) are also open to interested parties outside the university.

From 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., there will be a discussion with you by professors from different disciplines. Prof. Dr. John Henry Dingfelder Stone (Professor of Law specializing in International and Public Law) made a legal assessment of the invasion of Russia from an international law perspective. Prof. Dr. Lempp (Professor of Political Science with a focus on International Relations) introduces the actors and their various interests and points out possible perspectives. Furthermore, Prof. Eva Maria Hinterhuber (Professor of Sociology with a focus on Gender Studies) analyzes the authoritarian system of Putin and Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine from a gender perspective and focuses on civil society resistance to it.

Two lectures and discussions will follow. First examines Dr. Niklas Rolf (research assistant for political science with a focus on international relations) from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. with the help of an event data analysis of the conflict in Ukraine and then Prof. Dr. Hasan Alkas (Professor of Microeconomics with a focus on International Markets) from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. his game-theoretical considerations on the Ukraine war.

The faculty also cordially invites the public to the final eyewitness report at 6 p.m. Mrs. Prof. Dr. Natalia Shyriaieva fled with her 8-year-old daughter from Kharkiv via Poland to the Lower Rhine. She will report in English on her experiences and her escape. Prof. Dr. Gregor van der Beek, who took her in, will translate her report into German. Other Ukrainian scientists are to be connected via video.

We look forward to numerous visits and the good discussions.
