The Peace

On 12 November 2022, students visited the garden of Museum Schloss Moyland as part of the Creative Writing Workshop and composed poems on the theme of "Peace" to match the sculpture by Hans Reichert.

so desirable

but just out of reach

of the fingertips

through the sky hands heat

and in between, the countries

fight over their borders

peace

so desirable

but just out of reach

Peace

the garden SHE is in

is full of trees and art

but SHE stands on an open lawn

for all to see and focus on

SHE is looking at the dove,

holding it up

trying to help it fly

and one day

when it does

here will be peace

so

SHE will do it for eternity

The Dove of Peace

The dove rules over the king of the air as a symbol of peace. The people kneel before her in awe and reach out with their hands for mercy, they pray.

The dove is free

Men and children huddle together in fear, as the women reach for the weapons. People hunt for dreams, but they are fleeting like dust. People must fight for their freedom

The dove is free

Still the dove thrones above the people’s houses, but they have changed. They have become grey … and cheeky. The sky in all its endlessness, Once their hunting ground, is just a blue patch, surrounded by skyscrapers
