Honors, music and a special award
Graduation Ceremony of the Faculty Society and Economics 2024
On Friday, June 7, the graduates of the Faculty of Society and Economics at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences experienced a moving afternoon. The Dean of the Faculty of Society and Economics, Prof. Dr. Ralf Klapdor, welcomed 73 graduates as well as their families and friends to a graduation ceremony marked by numerous speeches and honors.
In his short welcoming speech, Prof. Dr. Ralf Klapdor addressed the new graduates directly: "Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences and the Faculty of Society and Economics are proud of you!" Prof. Dr. Tatiana Zimenkova, Vice President for International Affairs and Diversity, also spoke about the importance of this milestone and praised the achievements of the graduates.
A special highlight of the event was the presentation of the Katjes Prize, which is endowed with 1,000 euros. This prize is awarded to the best final thesis of the current year in the Faculty of Society and Economics. The selection criteria - practical relevance, innovation, practicability and scientific ambition - were carefully examined by representatives of the university and the company. This year, the prize was awarded to Leonard Hund, a graduate of the Bachelor of International Business and Management program, for his outstanding work on the topic "Companies in Restructuring Process: What Critical Factors Challenge Successful Recovery?".
In addition to the Katjes Prize, the Faculty's best Bachelor's and Master's graduates were also honored. Ms. Vera Schoofs from the Bachelor's program in Childhood Education and Ms. Nazlie Dumani from the Master's program in Economics and Finance received special recognition for their outstanding achievements.
Lisa Waberg, coordinator of the university's alumni network, also congratulated the graduates and invited those present to take part in a short alumni quiz. This quiz gave the guests a playful insight into the work and services of the Alumni Network. The President of the Student Council, Ms. Que Phuong Vu, also took the opportunity to say a few words to the graduates and to show a video she had made herself with numerous statements from the professors of the faculty.
At the end of the ceremony, the graduates received their diplomas. At the champagne reception that followed, the graduates, their families, and the professors had the opportunity to celebrate the special moment together and exchange ideas.
The graduation ceremony at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences was a worthy conclusion for the graduates and an emotional moment for all those present. It marked the end of an important stage in their lives and the beginning of a new chapter full of opportunities and challenges. The Faculty of Society and Economics wishes all graduates all the best for the future.
