Prof. Dr.-Ing. Patrick-Benjamin Bök

I have been a Professor of Computer Science, particularly in Operating Systems and Information Systems, at Rhine-Waal University since March 2023. At the Cloud Resilience Lab located in Kamp-Lintfort, I research and develop innovative solutions in the field of distributed and integrated information systems for cloud environments. The focus is on virtualizing functions in computer networks and the subsequent scalable deployment of granular microservices for platform-independent operating environments.

You can find my up-to-date resume on LinkedIn and Xing, and my official contact information is available here.

An updated list of my publications can be found on Google Scholar and ResearchGate. In addition to serving as a peer reviewer for international conferences, I am a member of the Editorial Boards for the Journal of Reliable Intelligent Environments and the Journal of Smart Cities and Society.

General Information for Students
Please do not approach me unprepared, as it usually does not lead to a positive outcome. This applies both to questions related to the courses and beyond, such as for coordinating thesis work. Therefore, always adhere to the 5P rule: Proper preparation prevents poor performance.

Availability and Office Hours
E-Mail (patrick-benjamin.boek@hochschule-rhein-waal.de) first! I am rarely available by phone because I primarily spend my time in lectures and research in the laboratory. So, please start by sending me an email with your inquiry, and I will get back to you promptly and provide you with suitable appointment suggestions. Office hours are exclusively by appointment via email, typically from Monday to Sunday, either in person or via Webex.
