BAFöG
BAföG (“bah-furg”) is a federal financial aid programme of the German government. Application forms are available at the info point of the Studierendenwerk Düsseldorf (page 14) and can be downloaded from the website of the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF). Payments begin, at the earliest, from the date of application, so if you’re eligible, don’t wait to apply! For information and a no obligation eligibility check, visit BAFöG-Rechner (available only in German). The funding period is equal to the standard period of study for your degree programme. International students from non-EU countries are ineligible for BAföG in most cases.
