“Nachhaltige regionale Kreisläufe”

Sustainable Regional Economies

The goal of the joint German-Dutch INTERREG IV A-Project ‘Nachhaltige regionale Kreisläufe’ (English: Sustainable Regional Economies) is to support the long-term development of the Euregio Rhine-Waal area by establishing new food production-based economies that go beyond existing borders and barriers. The result of the project is a strengthening of the bond between urban and rural areas, economic optimisation at the commercial and regional levels, and a lasting stimulus to regional agricultural production and rural economies.

The project included the elaborate development of 20 innovative concepts, 10 of which took the form of business cases. The three business cases which demonstrated the most potential were then selected by project partners and are being developed into detailed business plans.

In addition to the Centre for Research, Innovation and Transfer and the Faculty of Life Sciences of Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, other project partners include the Wasserburg Rindern and the Dutch foundation Stichting Landwaard. The project concluded in March 2015.
