Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences wishes you a peaceful Christmas

I would like to take the upcoming Christmas season and the festive holidays as an opportunity to pause and reflect on what makes us one of the most international universities in Germany.

At Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences (HSRW), with students representing over 120 nations and employees from almost 30 countries, peaceful and respectful conduct is very important to us. HSRW is an open university, free of discrimination. Our mission is to promote international scientific dialogue, as well as an open exchange of values and cultures. This openness to ideas and cultures is a direct contribution towards better understanding between cultures in an integrated and interconnected world.

In a world that is confronted with many crises, challenges and uncertainties, but also suffering, it is especially important to strive for and uphold a community of acceptance and inclusivity at HSRW, one which values and respects each individual member. This is only possible with the combined efforts of every one of us. Success depends on the readiness and willingness of every member of HSRW to respect other perspectives as a matter of principle, and to tolerate differing perspectives.

If you know our University, you have seen it as a strong international community. It is a place that shows at the micro-level what a successful future could look like, how we can combine our efforts to tackle the pressing problems of our age peacefully and across cultural boundaries, and ultimately find solutions to social challenges together. This is what the HSRW and its members stand for. I very much hope that this respectful conduct and the focus on togetherness will help us to deal better with the many crises in this world.

On behalf of the Executive Board, I would like to wish our students, employees, supporters and friends of the university a peaceful Christmas season and a good start to the New Year.

Yours,

Professor Dr Oliver Locker-Grütjen

President of Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences
