Consul General of India Raveesh Kumar visits Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences

Raveesh Kumar, Consul General of India in Germany, visited Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences on 21 April 2016. Consul General Kumar’s visit included an exchange with University President Dr Heide Naderer on future collaboration between Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences and the Consulate General of India in Frankfurt, Germany, as well as a talk and discussion with currently enrolled students from India.

Kleve/Kamp-Lintfort, 22 April 2016: The official visit of Consul General Raveesh Kumar began with a formal welcome by University President Dr Heide Naderer. Afterwards, the Consul General spoke with the President at length about Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences and its range of study courses. The discussion frequently revolved around the some 450 students from India currently studying at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, who make up the single largest ethnic group among our international students. The Consulate General of India feels that its duties also include supporting students from India who are studying in Germany. The Consulate General regularly offers open days with workshops and information sessions on these topics and more and is committed to answering students’ many visa-related questions, informing them about important cultural differences between Germany and India and supporting them as they start new careers in Germany.

The discussion between the Consul General and Dr Naderer also touched upon the possibility of future collaboration between Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences and the Consulate General. This could include, for example, annually hosting an open day of the Consulate General at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences.

Following the discussion with President Naderer, Consul General Kumar took part in an open forum with Rhine-Waal students from India. The event was organised and hosted by the Indian International Association of Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences. Consul General Kumar spoke with students about the economic ties between India and Germany and highlighted their importance for India. At the same time, he challenged students to integrate actively in Germany by experiencing German culture and learning the German language. The event concluded with a question-and-answer session between students and the Consul General.
