Kleve/Kamp-Lintfort, April 10, 2015: As part of a Germany-wide career orientation initiative for young people, Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences will be hosting Girls’ Day and Boys’ Day to give pupils from around the region a look at career paths that they might not have considered for their own futures. By introducing pupils to careers that are, for example, not gender-typical, pupils can broaden their horizons and discover a wide range of new possibilities: girls can explore the natural sciences and engineering, while boys can step foot into the world of early childhood education or health sciences.

“This event reveals a world of career possibilities for boys and girls and lets them learn explore it a playful fashion and answer any questions they may have. We hope that pupils will walk away with new and exciting aspirations for the future, and we’re looking forward to each participant”, said Professor Dr. Anja Freifrau von Richthofen, Vice-President for Studies, Teaching and Further Education at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences.

Girls’ Day and Boys’ Day is an annual event in Germany and Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences will be participating for the sixth consecutive year. All across Germany, companies, institutions and organisations will be opening their doors to pupils from Year 5 onwards. The goal of the intitiative is to not only encourage pupils’ future plans, but also to break down traditional notions of gender-typical careers in Germany.
