Faculty of Communication and Environment opens new E-Government Lab

The new E-Government lab with its state of the art equipment is an ideal place for students of different degree programmes to cooperate with administration or business representatives in developing modern information and communication technology to improve the quality and accessibility of public services, lower the costs for companies and public authorities and revolutionize the efficiency and transparency of administrative processes.

The first workshops in the new lab have already been successful. For two days in January 2018 students of the “Information systems” course had the chance to explore the main features of the business intelligence software “Qlik” and get an insight into a company’s information flow from a data analyst’s point of view. The workshop was taught by Marius Haferkamp, a graduate of the E-Government degree programme. Today he works as a consultant for EVACO, a company that specializes on the consultation and implementation of advanced analysis systems. Apart from subject specific knowledge, Mr Haferkamp gave students valuable and personal insights into the promising job perspectives for E-Government graduates.

The E-Government lab (first floor, RAG Building) is equipped with stationary as well as mobile computers, up to date software and audiovisual systems. It offers work places for 18 participants.

If you are interested in using our new lab, please contact Prof. Timo Kahl (Head of the E-Government degree programme) by email to timo.kahl@hochschule-rhein-waal.de
