The Faculty of Communication and Environment is happy to welcome two new Professors

Since winter semester 2023/24, Professor Nicolas Markwald und Professor Dr Matteo Große-Kampmann have been supporting the team of professors at the Faculty of Communication and Environment.

Nicolas Markwald studied visual communication in the classes of Bazon Brock, Uwe Loesch and Hans Günter Schmitz at Bergische Universität Wuppertal from 1998 to 2004. Since 2004 he has been running the design agency Markwald Neusitzer Identity in Frankfurt and Düsseldorf together with Nina Neusitzer. The agency's results have been honoured with the Red Dot Grand Prix, the Corporate Design Award, the Art Directors Club New York, Type Directors Club New York and the Annual Multimedia Award, among others.

Markwald is a member of the German Designer Club (DDC), where he volunteered as board spokesperson in a leadership role from 2017 to 2021. During this time, he contributed significantly to the wide-ranging reorientation and was involved in the introduction of innovative formats within the design organisation.

Nicolas Markwald was a lecturer with various courses on the focus of corporate design at Mainz University of Applied Sciences between 2021 and 2022.
