The Faculty of Communication and Environment is happy to welcome a new Professor

Since  July 1, 2023, Dr Matthias Reintjes has been supporting the team of professors at the Faculty of Communication and Environment. As Professor of Administrative Sciences he has got a special focus on modernisation and e-government.

After completing his studies in Political Science and Public Administration at the University of Duisburg-Essen and the NRW School of Governance, he conducted a comparative policy analysis and federalism study on the civil service reform of German states during his doctoral research. Additionally, he taught courses in general political science, digital transformation of administration, administrative modernization, and municipal politics and administration, e.g. at the University of Duisburg-Essen and the University of Applied Sciences for Police and Public Administration NRW.

Following his doctoral studies, he worked in the field of scientific policy consulting and served as an examiner and consultant at the NRW Municipal Audit Office (Gemeindeprüfungsanstalt NRW). His focus here was on consolidation consultations as well as administrative modernization and digitalization.

Reintjes looks forward to contributing to shaping a young, interdisciplinary, and international university at HSRW and experiencing the exciting Faculty of Communication and Environment in action. In his research, he examines the digital transformation of state and society. This research will centrally involve the digitization of administration, democracy, and state-citizen interaction (e-participation/open government).
