German Intensive Courses

German intensive courses in the semester break

German intensive courses are about learning a lot of German in a short amount of time. Intensive courses offer a challenging, face-paced learning environment designed so that students can achieve significant and noticeable progress in their speaking, reading, listening and writing abilities.

While the German language is the main focus of an intensive course, you’ll also learn much more about German culture and customs, helping you better navigate the country and improving your long-term chances of finding that perfect internship or job down the road.

The goals of each intensive course vary by course and language level:

  • Developing speaking and communication skills in German
  • Developing listening and reading comprehension
  • Developing writing skills
  • Vocabulary
  • Grammar
  • Pronunciation
  • Advanced cultural topics (regional differences, dialects etc.) (generally at the B1 level or higher)

Participation requirements

If you do not have some form of recent German placement, you cannot sign up for an intensive course!

In other words, you must have recently completed a German course at Rhine-Waal University, or completed a placement test in our language lab.

Registration

You can sign up for an intensive course on Moodle, where you’ll also find the latest information and timetables.
