3.1 Writing Successful Third-Party Funding Proposals – An Introductory Overview for Scientists

Are you a scientist looking to gain an initial overview of writing third-party funding applications? Then this seminar is perfect for you! In a practical setting, we will provide you with the essential knowledge needed to successfully apply for funding for your research projects. The aim is to give an overview of the funding and research landscape. You will learn about the key players—funding agencies, research institutions, and relevant networks. Under the theme "Who is who," we will explore which organizations might be critical for your projects. Afterward, we will dive into the topic of "funding guidelines": What do the guidelines of funding programs actually say, and what do they really mean?

Using concrete examples, we will explain how to correctly interpret the requirements of funding institutions.

Another focus will be on the perspective of the reviewers. What do reviewers expect from an application, and how can you increase your chances of receiving a positive evaluation? This insight will help you tailor your applications more effectively. We will also cover the essential chapters of a research proposal, such as the "state of science," the "Consolidation of research results," the "work packages," and the "financial planning," all presented in a practical way. To conclude, we will discuss effective writing techniques, providing valuable tips on how to clearly and convincingly present your project idea to maximize your chances of success.

Whether you are just starting out or looking to further develop your skills in writing research applications, this seminar will equip you with the tools to confidently and efficiently write third-party funding proposals.

The event is supported by the Zentrum für Forschung, Innovation und Transfer (Center for Research, Innovation, and Transfer; ZFIT), offering the opportunity to ask individual questions about research funding and applications at HSRW.
