1.2 On the Path to a UAS Professorship? Appointment Training

The appointment training systematically and purposefully prepares participants for applying for UAS professorships. Participants receive specific information on the legal foundations, procedures, and individual components of appointment processes, as well as tips on how to best prepare for an application and structure their written application documents. In practical exercises and training scenarios, key elements of the process, such as the interview with the appointment committee, are practiced. Gender and diversity-specific aspects are also reflected upon and integrated into individual preparation.

Learning Objectives

Participants...

• understand the process, elements, and possible variations of appointment procedures at UASs.
• know how to thoroughly prepare for the application process and develop a positive mindset.
• have drafted an initial version of their application and know how to optimize their application documents.
• know how to convincingly present their strengths during the trial lecture and the committee interview and have developed argumentation strategies for handling critical questions through practical training exercises.
• can prepare for appointment negotiations in a targeted manner and have improved their negotiation skills through active training.
• have learned methods and strategies to evaluate their experiences in appointment processes and how to constructively cope with the situation if they are not successful in the process.

Individual coaching sessions will be offered in support of these efforts.
