New dual-vocational degree programme E-Government

The additional dual study programme will feature a block curriculum and is aimed specifically at candidates for higher civil service positions in IT operations for public administration (in German: Laufbahngruppe 2, erstes Einstiegsamt, des technischen Verwaltungsinformatikdienstes). The Ministry of Economic Affairs, Innovation, Digitalisation and Energy attends to attract and retain IT specialists who would like to tackle the challenges of our digital future. According to Minister Prof. Dr. Andreas Pinkwart, the new offer is perfectly suited to meet the demand.

Since public administration needs to adapt to the changes brought about by digitalisation, the Ministry has cooperated with Rhine-Waal University in developing the new programme which includes a period of full-time studies at the Rhine-Waal University in Kamp-Lintfort as well as a practical phase in a government ministry or public authority.

 “Well qualified IT specialists are essential for a successful digital state administration. This is why I highly appreciate the cooperation with Rhine-Waal University. Being a young and innovative university with excellent equipment, it offers ideal conditions for the training of new administrative IT specialists" says Economics and Digital Affairs Minister Prof. Dr. Andreas Pinkwart. University President Dr. Oliver Locker-Grütjen emphasizes: "As a university of applied sciences, we focus on educating young people in a practical and future-oriented way. We therefore greatly value the cooperation with the state of North Rhine-Westphalia".

The dual degree programme comprises eight semesters (four years) during which students will receive a remuneration of approximately 1,350 euros per month. Successful graduates will be awarded an academic "Bachelor of Science" degree and a career qualification for higher civil service positions in IT operations for public administration.
