Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary loan is a quick and easy service for ordering books as well as copies of sections from journals, newspapers and books not found in the library holdings of Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences.

The interlibrary loan programme is designed to promote research, learning and general education purposes. In Germany, the programme is formally regulated by the Interlibrary Loan Policy for the Libraries of the Federal Republic of Germany (link in German).

Please note that a processing fee of €1.50 is charged for all interlibrary loan requests, regardless of the success of the order.

To submit a request, please sign in to the Katalog PLUS homepage and check the menu option "Search". Choose whether you would like to order a book/ a copy of a book section or a copy of a journal article.

After signing in with your university ID, you can search for media in our ILL network and make an order.

For books, depending on the type and availability of your requested title, delivery will usually take around two weeks, sometimes a bit longer. You will be notified automatically when your order is available for pick up. You can pick up your requested media at the information desk during our opening hours. Library staff will inform you about the loan period and whether you have the option of renewal, as this is set by the policies of the lending library.

Copies of articles or book sections are usually made available to you after approx. one week as PDF files for download which can be retrieved within 30 days. As soon as the document is ready for you, you will receive an e-mail with a download link. Only in exceptional cases, for example if the supplying library does not participate in the electronic delivery system or if there are licence-related reasons preventing delivery, will a paper copy be supplied. The copy can be picked up at the information desk and does not have to be returned.
