Team Spirit on the Track: Faculty of Communication and Environment at the Rhein-Ruhr Marathon
On Sunday, 18 May 2025, the Faculty of Communication and Environment at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences took part in the half marathon relay event at the 42nd Rhein-Ruhr Marathon in Duisburg with five relay teams.
Despite cool temperatures and light drizzle, around 20 runners from the faculty – including students, staff and lecturers – made their way to the Schauinsland-Reisen Arena. Spirits were high from the start, and just in time for the race, the weather began to brighten.
The course covered approximately 21 kilometres through various parts of Duisburg – passing through green parks, alongside industrial backdrops, and along traffic-free roads. Each team member ran a segment of five to six kilometres before handing over the baton to the next runner. A particular highlight was the shared final sprint into the arena to mark the end of the relay.
While the focus was on enjoying the run and the team experience, many participants also celebrated personal bests. The reward: medals, great energy, and a strong sense of achievement.
A big thank-you to all who took part – for your commitment, your team spirit and the great atmosphere throughout the day!
