Kleve and the Lower Rhine – Companies all across Germany are warning of the looming shortage of qualified specialists in the workforce, a problem which will affect the Lower Rhine region as well. For Peter Wack, who chairs Campus Cleve e.V., one of the main sponsoring organisations of Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, one part of the solution is crystal clear: demonstrate to students the benefits of the region and its diverse industries.

To that end, Campus Cleve e.V. will be organising the upcoming networking event Students Meet Industry on 11 May 2015. The three-hour event is a chance for regional companies to present their offers for collaborative research projects, thesis topics, work placements and entry level careers. “We want to give companies a platform to get graduates thinking about ‘life after uni’,” said Peter Wack.

Students Meet Industry has seen much success at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences over the past years. Previously, the event was modelled after a typical job fair where students could meet and greet company representatives. This year’s event will see the premiere of a new video prospectus featuring over 20 companies from in and around Kleve. “With this new video we want to make the advantages of our region and our companies really come alive. Our goal is to show non-local Rhine-Waal graduates the career perspectives here and to encourage them to make the Lower Rhine region their home. We see this as our responsibility and duty, and we greatly appreciate the financial support to our efforts provided by the Sparkasse and Volksbank in Kleve,” said Hans-Josef Kuypers of the business development organisation Wirtschaftsförderung Kreis Kleve.

No prior registration or tickets are necessary to attend for students. We look forward to seeing you on 11 May!
