Scholarship Dinner at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences (press release)
Thanks to the generosity and commitment of both companies and individuals in the Lower Rhine region, Germany Scholarships could be awarded to talented young students at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences in the academic year 2017/2018. This year a total of 78 students benefit from the scholarship program – the largest number of scholars in the history of Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences so far. As a way of giving thanks, Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences and its three sponsoring organizations invited sponsors and recipients to the annual Scholarship Dinner for an evening of mingling, networking and pleasant conversation.
Speaking on behalf of the organizers of the Scholarship Dinner, Stefan Finke, managing director of the sponsoring organization ‘Hochschule Rhein-Waal e.V.’, thanked the scholarship sponsors for their generosity and spoke highly of the commitment shown by regional companies: “It demonstrates the strong ties that exist between the region’s companies and Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences and illustrates the exceptional interest these companies show in our students as well as the excellent career prospects in the region.”
The annual Scholarship Dinner is a way for Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences and the three integral sponsoring organizations to thank sponsoring companies and individuals for their generous financial support for students. Additionally, both the University and the sponsoring organizations strive to forge a strong connection between sponsors and scholarship winners, who are poised to become the next generation of specialists in the region. "We are very proud of your accomplishments so far and delighted to celebrate today's award ceremony along with the corresponding financial support together with you," Dr. Heide Naderer, President of Rhine-Waal University, addressed the students in her speech.
Over the course of the evening, scholarship students were given a prime opportunity to meet and greet with their scholarship sponsors, representatives of sponsoring companies, as well as members of the University’s administration. Over a three-course buffet and drinks, students talked about their study progress, their future aspirations and their career goals. Dr. Heide Naderer, President of Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, congratulated students on their accomplishments and personally presented each one with a scholarship certificate issued by the Federal Minister of Education, Professor Dr. Johanna Wanka, as part of the festive ceremony held in the Audimax.
Germany Scholarships (or Deutschlandstipendien) are awarded annually to top students at the University, regardless of their parents’ income. The scholarship is a monthly stipend consisting of 150 euros, raised by the University, the sponsoring organizations, private individuals, companies or institutions, which is then matched by the German federal government. A total of 120,600 euros was donated for the academic year 2017/2018 by the many generous sponsors from the region, allowing Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences to award 241,200 euros in scholarships to its 78 best students.
