Germany is facing a number of future challenges: an ageing population, a lack of affordable living space, providing effective and comprehensive healthcare, and the sustainable use of resources. Innovative start-ups with viable long-term solutions are a key part of tackling these problems and ensuring a stability for future generations. This is a driving idea behind the annual Start-up Week Germany initiative, which Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences will be supporting with a comprehensive event programme geared toward creative minds and budding entrepreneurs. This year’s programme also includes special events geared toward female entrepreneurs in particular, such as the ‘success cocktail’ workshop.

The Best Idea Cup competition is proof that Generation Y does more than ask questions: it also provides solutions and answers to modern problems. The unique and innovative ideas and contributions on display demonstrate that a brighter future truly is possible and students – in some cases multinational teams of students – will be leading the way with innovative and valuable business ideas.

To ensure a smooth start-up phase for any founder, Rhine-Waal’s unique programme not only dives into general entrepreneurship topics – developing a business model, scalability, business planning, securing financial backers – but also offers personalised advice and consulting for students’ individual business ideas, skills and possibilities.

Strictly speaking, every new business must answer two ‘simple’ questions: Why should a customer use my product and how scalable are my operations? To truly understand these complex principles, every founder should seek a broader perspective – one which perceives the world in its entirety and as an impossibly complex network of interaction. This maxim is found throughout the many events and talks scheduled for Start-up Week Germany.
