Both Dr Heide Naderer, President of Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, and Professor Dr Aloys Krieg, Head of the Board of Governors, agree: Dr Oliver Hermann, a 51-year-old public administration specialist and law practitioner, represents an excellent choice for interim Chancellor. For more than 25 years Dr Herrmann has worked in the field of science management at various universities, gathering extensive knowledge of university administration in the process. His most recent appointments include the position of President of Ostwestfalen-Lippe University of Applied Sciences and Chancellor at Kiel University. He is currently working as a consultant in the field of higher education and is engaged in a number of ongoing projects, including the coordination of Campus OWL, an association of the five public universities in the Ostwestfalen-Lippe region.

From 23 August 2017 Herrmann will take over for departing interim Chancellor Karsten Koppetsch until a new permanent Chancellor is elected. Acting on the recommendation of Sigrid Rix-Diester of the Ministry of Culture and Science of North-Rhine Westphalia, the University is pleased to have found a renowned and highly-qualified expert such as Dr Oliver Herrmann, thus ensuring a seamless transition for this significant office. Dr Herrmann has already announced that he will not be among the candidates running for the permanent position of Chancellor in autumn.
