Interested visitors and brilliant weather on Open Day
On Saturday, June 3rd, 2023, the Faculty of Communication and Environment invited all those interested in studying or just curious to the Open Campus Day. The varied, informative programme, the numerous hands-on activities and not least the sunny weather attracted numerous visitors to the campus in Kamp-Lintfort.
Visitors had the chance to walk through our many modern facilities, take part in numerous hands-on activities and experiments, get an insight into the faculty’s degree programmes and talk to professors and staff.
Many prospective students took the opportunity to get detailed information on the study options and to address their questions directly to professors, who were available for dialogue throughout the day. This way they got a good insight into the practice of the different degree programmes and their innovative research and student projects.
"The Faculty of Communication and Environment is very satisfied with the response. On the day, we were not only able to provide insights into our research but also to engage in conversation with prospective students. Our vibrant atmosphere on the Kamp-Lintfort Campus is very special and the broad offer of degree programmes is inspiring“, says Professor Dr Klaus Hegemann, Dean of the Faculty.
Popular activities included the exchange with robot Pepper, who knew a lot about the university and entertained with a short dance, or the age simulation, where visitors felt like they had aged 20 years with heavy cuffs, blurred vision and impaired hearing. Visitors to the FabLab also learned about 3D printing and laser cutting, IT security, the perception of advertising and brands, government services on the internet, radio astronomy, programming, game development, and renewable energies. The Green FabLab's offerings, such as the "banana piano" or the drone flights, were also well attended. The Central Student Advisory Service, University Music and Sports, library staff, Equal Opportunities as well as the AStA and the Fair Trade Student Group were also on-site to support the Faculty's offerings.
Visitors were fascinated by the international yet familiar atmosphere. The cheerfulness was supported by bands from the Netherlands and our university, a Latino dance workshop and not at last by bright sunshine.
