The Faculty Society and Economics is excited to announce the second Career Talk of this semester: It’s a Wo-Man’s World – Working towards equal opportunities

Our speaker Dr. Gabriele Schambach started her career with an apprenticeship as an industrial management assistant. Afterwards she decided to study political sciences, write her PhD thesis and get involved with a cooperative housing project – but the topic that fascinated her most throughout her research and working life was equality at the work place. For more than 11 years she has been the owner of Genderworks, an agency that consults with companies to further their aim of getting more women into management. Her angle is simple, yet effective: In order to have more women in the lead, the current leaders need to be on board. Questions she faces every day are: How do you raise the quota of women in leadership? Which unconscious (or conscious) stereotypes do we have and how do they influence us? Are women really the only disadvantaged half? Dr. Schambach will lead us through her career, how she got where she is now, shed light on how gender issues are treated in different industries and companies and what it takes to be a freelance consultant and trainer. After her talk, there will be a short interview, followed by a Q&A session.
