Prof. Dr. Kai Essig
Kai Essig graduated 1998 in Computer Science and Chemistry (M.Sc.) at Bielefeld University, Germany. He joined the Neuroinformatics Group at Bielefeld University (Germany) in 1998 and received a Ph.D. in Computer Science in 2007, working on a vision-based image retrieval system. His fields of research include eye tracking, visual perception, image processing, computer vision, eye-hand coordination and robotics. From 2008 on he joined the Neurocognition and Action-Biomechanics Research Group, headed by Prof. Dr. Schack, at the Faculty of Psychology and Sport Sciences at Bielefeld University. He is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Excellence Cluster 277 “Cognitive Interaction Technology (CITEC)” doing research on the influence of movement expertise on visual perception during the observation and/or interaction with objects and ongoing events in the environment and the implementation of (multi-modal) software solutions in the field of eye-tracking. He has been Professor of Human Factors and Interactive Systeme at the Faculty of Communication and Environment at the Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences in Kamp-Lintfort since September 2017.
