EBCI 2015 Workshop
1 – 2 July 2015
EEG-based Brain-Computer Interfaces for Healthcare Applications
Introduction
Effects of ageing present all-too-often physical handicaps, which prevent older people from actively participating in social life, even when they still can live safely and independently in their own homes. Modern technologies could help elderly people or people with physical impairments if they provided special interfaces that worked independently of the person's limitations.
One of the possibilities for those people to express their needs, wishes and feelings is so-called Brain-Computer Interface (BCI). This technology translates brain signals, usually acquired non-invasively using electroencephalogram (EEG), in computer commands without using the brain's normal output pathways of peripheral nerves and muscles.

The scope of the workshop primarily includes, but not limited to
Brain-computer interface technology
Medical robots, devices and technologies

Call for papers
All presented papers will be included as regular book chapters in the workshop proceedings “EEG-based Brain-Computer Interfaces for Healthcare Applications”. This book will be published by Shaker Verlag GmbH (with the regular ISBN number). We would like to invite you to submit abstracts in any of the abovementioned themes or related areas.
One page abstracts (DIN A4) should be submitted over EasyChair system:
https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=ebci2015workshop
The abstracts should include the study objectives, results and tentative conclusions. Here is one of the actual abstract submissions as an example: one page abstract

Official language
The official language of the workshop will be English and will be used in all correspondence, presentations and publications.
Venue of the workshop
The conference will be held at the Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences in Kleve.
http://www.hochschule-rhein-waal.de/
The Rhine-Waal University of Applied Science is a young but rapidly developing university. At present students from more than 100 nationalities are studying there. The main objective of the interdisciplinary studies is to accurately meet demands placed on future graduates by society and industry on a national and international level. Besides full-time studies, most degree programmes will be offered as dual or extra – occupational studies to establish a strong connection between studies, practice and science.
Deadlines
Submission of one page abstracts: 30 April 2015
Notification of the authors: 15 May 2015
Submission of full papers (4-10 pages) for publication in the conference proceedings: 01 December 2015
Workshop fee
There is no registration fee for the participants of this workshop. Please note that the overall number of participants and space available for presentations is very limited.
