Consultations
We’ll support you through all career-related processes throughout your degree and beyond, right up to your first job: we offer personalised advice on everything from career guidance to interview preparation. Whatever the topic, the focus is always on what you want.

It’s often difficult to picture a specific career path, particularly when studying interdisciplinary degree programmes. Does that sound familiar? Or perhaps your career aspirations have changed over time?
In our career counselling sessions, we address all these issues of career guidance. Possible questions might include:
- I feel like I haven’t learnt ‘anything’ – what should I do now?
- How do I find out what I actually want and am capable of?
- How should I make a decision?
- And many more.
Please send me a brief email telling me who you are, what stage of your studies you’re at, and what challenges you’re facing.
A lot depends on a good application – it’s the first, and unfortunately sometimes the only, impression we make on employers. Typical questions asked during application advice sessions might include:
- I’ve found my dream job – how do I best market myself?
- I’ve already written 100 applications and only received rejections – why?
- My CV dates back to my school days or was written in another country – what should it look like?
Please send me your documents, including the link to the job advertisement, and you will either receive feedback by email or we can arrange a joint appointment (online/by phone) to discuss your documents.
Has your application been successful? Congratulations! Now it’s time to move on to the next stage of the application process. Together, we’ll work through answers to tricky questions, practise possible ways of structuring your responses, and rehearse your self-introduction. Typical scenarios and questions include:
- I have a gap in my CV / I dropped out of university / … – how do I handle this?
- I’m so nervous – what can I do?
- How can I present myself convincingly?
Training courses and events
Through our various event formats, we offer you the opportunity to lay the foundations for your future career. This allows you to deepen your knowledge whilst gaining an insight into different career paths. All students in the Faculty of Society and Economics will receive information about upcoming events by email.
Are my application documents up to date? Are they suited to the industry or role I’m looking for? What (alternative) options are there for finding an Internship or job in my specific Degree programme?
Do these questions sound familiar? At our information sessions, we offer a concise overview (approx. 1.5 hours) of the following topics

- Job search strategies and much more
The information sessions take place regularly every semester and are open to all students in the Faculty of Society and Economics. In addition, programme-specific talks are offered.
Whilst our talks and information sessions provide an overview of a topic, the workshops go into greater depth.
- What alternative ways are there to look for a job in my degree programme?
- What’s the best way to prepare for a virtual job fair or a (virtual) job interview?
- How can I build up a network? And much more.
These are just a few examples of our workshops, which are available on request.
Speakers with real-world experience will talk about their professional fields and personal career paths. The aim is, on the one hand, to highlight potential career paths, including interdisciplinary ones. At the same time, the speakers’ decisions and experiences can provide food for thought as you shape your own future.
