Guest lecture: Kharkiv National Technical University

During the semester break, Prof. Dr Oliver Serfling (CCST) was invited to give a guest lecture on the topic of ‘Capacities for Sustainable Development’ as part of the Master’s programme in Business Administration at the National Technical University in Kharkiv, Ukraine.

His lecture focused on the question of how capacity-building measures need to be designed in order to generate sustainable benefits for organisations and to drive forward the sustainable development of entire countries and regions.

In his presentation, Prof. Serfling provided insights into his ongoing research on the evaluation of capacity-building measures as part of the TransRegInt project. He highlighted the complexity and challenges involved in implementing such measures, as they must address different levels simultaneously – something that is difficult for practitioners to achieve. He also pointed out weaknesses in the proper impact assessment of such capacity-building measures.
