On 1 June, Prof. Dr Oliver Serfling and Taya Romanov presented a practice-oriented approach to analysing large volumes of text data as part of a meta-evaluation during an online seminar.

Using World Bank project documents and IEG evaluation data, the presentation demonstrated how computer-assisted text analysis (CTA) can be used to systematically analyse relevant information from thousands of documents. The focus was on a structured, transparent approach — from the automated identification of relevant information in the text, through to the operationalisation of the measurement framework and its integration with quantitative evaluation results. The aim was to provide practitioners in the field of project impact evaluation with a methodological approach for large-scale evaluation studies.
The contributions and feedback from participants provide valuable impetus for the further development of research
