After the welcome, we’ll move straight on to some snacks and a chance to get to know one another. Have a chat with the university’s representatives, meet your new fellow students and make your first connections on campus.

Building 18

Get to know the university library and find out what it has to offer to support your studies. On a short guided tour, you’ll learn where to find books, study spaces and other facilities, so that you’re well prepared right from the start.

AStA Office, Campus Kleve

Come and get to know the AStA – the General Students’ Committee – and, through it, the body that represents students’ interests at the university. At a relaxed social event, you’ll find out more about its work and have the chance to meet other students.

New to Germany? Students from the Welcome Centre will share their experiences and practical tips for everyday life – from registration and accommodation to the TV licence fee and waste separation. Peer-to-peer, straightforward and with plenty of time for your questions. This will be followed by a virtual campus tour.

Round off the first day of Freshers’ Week with some live music! Students from the university will be taking to the stage to provide the soundtrack for the evening. There’ll also be food, time to get to know one another and a great campus atmosphere, with views of Schwanenburg Castle.

Wednesday is workshop day! Put together your own programme and discover just how diverse the HSRW is. You can look forward to sporting, intercultural and creative activities, as well as workshops focusing on getting involved and helping to shape life at the university. You’ll also have the chance to look beyond your own degree programme and get a taste of other faculties, whilst taking part in hands-on workshops to see what students and lecturers there are working on.

The stage is yours! At HSRW Got Talent, freshers and experienced students show what they’re made of – whether it’s singing, dancing, comedy or something completely different. At the end, a panel of judges decides who has impressed them the most and takes home the prize.

The week will end on a sporting note! At the Homecoming Cup, you’ll compete against each other in teams across various disciplines, such as cycling, rowing or an obstacle course. You can enter with your own group or find a team there and then. The grand finale: conquering the wall together as a team!

A week full of new experiences, people and adventures – that calls for a celebration. The AStA’s Semester Opening Party marks the grand finale of Freshers’ Week. Come and dance, celebrate and kick off the new semester together!
