Introductory session
Get to know your faculty and your degree programme. At our Faculty Day on 1 October 2026 we will welcome you in the morning and introduce your Bachelor’s or Master’s programme. Afterwards the Student Council takes over with its own programme.
Welcome outside the Faculty Day
For three degree programmes the welcome for first-year students does not take place on the Faculty Day, but directly in the first course session.
The welcome and introduction for first-year students in the Master’s programme Lebensmittelwissenschaften takes place on 7 October 2026 at 14:15 in room 13 01 012, as part of the preliminary meeting for the module “Angewandtes Forschungsprojekt”.
The welcome and introduction for first-year students in the Master’s programme Gesundheitswissenschaften und -management takes place on 7 October 2026 at 8:00 in room KLE 11 EG 011, in the module “Betriebliches Gesundheitsmanagement” with Prof. Renner.
The welcome and introduction for first-year students in the Bachelor’s programme Qualität, Umwelt, Sicherheit und Hygiene takes place on 5 October 2026 at 14:00 in room KLE 10 03 004, in the first lecture “Grundlagen des Qualitätswesens” with Prof. Schumachers.

Student Council programme
From 10:00 the Student Council Life Sciences will set up a morning picnic in front of building 11. Everything will be ready at 11:00, and breakfast baked goods will be available until 13:00.
At 13:00 the Student Council will take you on a tour of the Life Sciences buildings, handing out small gifts along the way. The tour runs until 14:00.
From 14:00 to 16:00 we will get together on the lawn with some drinks.
There will also be an info booth throughout the day.
Access to the laboratories
To work in the laboratories you need a lab coat and the certificate for the general laboratory safety induction. You complete the safety induction online in Moodle.
Entry requirements & recognition
Did your Bachelor’s degree last only 6 semesters (180 ECTS credits) instead of 7 (210 ECTS credits)? If so, you are still 30 ECTS credits short, which you must make up before registering your Master's thesis. You can clarify any questions regarding the nature and scope of the Learning Agreement with the Examination Board.
If you are studying Biological Resources and require a Learning Agreement, please visit the Moodle course ‘BR3 5099 Learning Agreement’ for further information, rather than contacting the Examination Board.
Lab Crash Course (Biological Resources only)
Are you studying Biological Resources? If so, you’ll need to complete and pass the Lab Crash Course – usually during the first week of lectures and, ideally, right at the start of your first semester. Register in advance by enrolling in the Moodle course ‘BR3 5098 Laboratory Crash Course’.
