Freshers’ Day takes place at the start of the academic year. On this day, as part of the Life Sciences Faculty’s event ‘Enrolled – and what’s next?’, you’ll be given an overview of all the key information you need to get started with your studies.

Student Council programme
From 12:00 to 15:00, the Life Sciences Student Council is organising a board games day on the ground floor of Building 6 – snacks and music will be provided! If there are enough participants, we will also be offering a guided tour of the faculty’s buildings.
Welcome event outside Faculty Day
For three degree programmes, the welcome session for first-year students will not take place on Faculty Day, but directly during the first lecture.
The welcome and induction for first-year students on the Master’s in Food Sciences will take place on 7 October 2026 at 2.15 pm in room 13 01 012 as part of the preliminary meeting for the ‘Applied Research Project’ module.
The welcome and induction for first-year students on the Master’s in Health Sciences and Management will take place on 14 October 2026 at 8.00 am in room KLE 11 EG 011 as part of the ‘Occupational Health Management’ module led by Prof. Renner.
The welcome and orientation session for first-year students on the Bachelor’s programme in Quality, Environment, Safety and Hygiene will take place on 5 October 2026 at 2.00 pm in room KLE 10 03 004 during the first lecture on ‘Fundamentals of Quality Management’ with Prof. Schumacher.

Faculty-specific information
Timetable: You can find the current timetable for the Faculty of Life Sciences here: Timetable for the 2026/27 winter semester
Your degree programme’s website: You can find examination regulations, module handbooks and study plans via the quick links for your degree programme.
Access to laboratories: Access is only permitted once you have completed the general safety induction (online via Moodle) and are wearing a lab coat.
Learning Agreement (for Master’s students only): If your Bachelor’s programme consisted of only 6 semesters (180 CP) instead of 7 (210 CP), you are 30 CP short, which you must make up before registering for your Master’s thesis. If you are studying Health Sciences and Management or Food Sciences, you should clarify the nature and scope of this with the Examination Board. If you are studying Biological Resources, please attend the Moodle course BR3 5099 Learning Agreement.
For Biological Resources students only: All BR students must complete and pass the Lab Crash Course – usually during the first week of lectures. Register in advance via the Moodle course BR3 5098 ‘Laboratory Crash Course’.
