NEW: Libkey – Full-text access made easy

Since September, the library has been offering the ‘LibKey’ service, which simplifies full-text access to e-resources in Katalog PLUS.

When searching for literature in the ‘Articles & more’ section, it is not always immediately clear whether, and how, the library provides you with access to a licensed full text. To simplify this process, we have integrated the ‘LibKey’ service into the Katalog PLUS.

LibKey Discovery checks all platforms available to our library (publisher websites, databases, open-access sources) for each search result and, with a single click, directs you to the best possible full text of the article. The download indicator is integrated into the search results list and the detail view, reducing the need to navigate via intermediate pages.

The service is complemented by the free browser extension LibKey Nomad, which facilitates direct access to full texts outside the Katalog PLUS. Whether you’re browsing publisher websites, databases or other platforms, the plugin automatically checks in the background whether access is available via the library. If so, a download button for the PDF is displayed immediately. LibKey Nomad is available for all common desktop browsers and requires a one-off installation: https://thirdiron.com/downloadnomad/.

You can find further information on our LibKey website. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us by email at medienmanagement(at)hochschule-rhein-waal.de.
