The library in Kamp-Lintfort is expected to launch as an ‘Open Library’ in spring 2027.
This will require extensive construction work over the coming months. Work is due to begin on 24 September.
An ‘Open Library’ is a library that allows access without the need for staff, even outside regular service hours. To achieve this, construction work will be required, divided into different phases, which will take several months to complete.
During this time, there will be occasional noise, disruption and restrictions on access to the library in Kamp-Lintfort. We would nevertheless like to continue to make our library available to you as a place of learning and recommend that, in the event of noise, you use rooms with lockable doors, such as the group study rooms and our Collab Space.
The first phase of construction work will begin on 24 September 2026 and will focus on the library’s entrance area. This will involve the installation of a sliding door and the necessary technical equipment, so that you will later be able to open the library entrance yourself using your library card.
The main entrance to the library will be closed during the construction work. From 24 September until the end of October, please enter the library via the side entrance on the right-hand side (see diagram).
The book scanner will not be available whilst the construction work is taking place. Our self-service machine for borrowing and returning items can be found temporarily in the copy room 01 02 300.
