A special day for 74 graduates from the Faculty of Communication and Environment.
On 9 October 2026, they celebrated completing their degrees at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, joined by family, friends and lecturers. Outstanding achievements, inspiring speeches and personal moments made the graduation ceremony a truly memorable.
A total of 60 Bachelor's and 14 Master's graduates were honoured at the ceremony in the Audimax. Prof. Dr Klaus Hegemann, Dean of the Faculty of Communication and Environment, hosted the event.
University President Prof. Dr Oliver Locker-Grütjen congratulated the graduates and shared an inspiring message from this year's Nobel Prize winner, Prof. Peter Hegemann: "Just be curious and fearless."
Prof. Dr Matteo Große-Kampmann, speaking on behalf of the lecturers, and student representative Syed Shahzeb Kazmi also reflected on the graduates' time at university. Both agreed that successfully navigating the academic, language and bureaucratic challenges of studying in an international environment is excellent preparation for whatever comes next.
Celebrating Outstanding Achievements
One of the highlights of the ceremony was the recognition of exceptional academic achievements. Together with the ALTANA Group, the university's support association (Förderverein Campus Camp-Lintfort e. V) presented awards for two outstanding final theses.
The award for the best Bachelor's thesis went to Hsieh Yi-Ting, a graduate of Mobility and Logistics, B.Sc., who was unable to attend the ceremony. Clein Alexander Sarmiento Castrillon, a graduate of Information Engineering and Computer Science, M.Sc., received the award for the best Master's thesis. The awards were presented by Eva Folkerts and Lena Neumann.
The Förderverein Campus Camp-Lintfort e. V., represented by Frank Rattmann, also honoured the faculty's top-performing graduates with its "Best of the Best" awards (see below).
Musical entertainment was provided by Elvi Likaj. Following the presentation of graduation certificates, the graduates gathered in the courtyard for a group photo.
Even a little rain couldn't dampen the celebratory mood! The festivities continued with a sparkling wine reception, where everyone raised a glass to the graduates' achievements.
The Faculty of Communication and Environment warmly congratulates all its graduates and wishes them every success in the future!
