Start-up Coaching
Aspiring entrepreneurs receive support from the initial idea through to the next concrete steps on the path towards launching a business. Key areas include:
- structuring and further developing business ideas
- validating target groups, customer problems and market potential
- testing assumptions and developing business models
- planning individual next steps and identifying suitable support services
Early-stage ideas that have not yet been fully developed can also be discussed in a non-binding initial consultation. Coaching is available in German and English.
Funding Programmes and Start-up Grants
Various regional and national funding schemes are available for innovative start-up projects. The support includes:
- guidance on suitable programmes, such as Gründungsstipendium.NRW or EXIST
- an initial assessment of an idea’s eligibility for funding
- Support with preparing applications and pitches
- Support within the framework of selected funding programmes
Those interested in setting up a business from abroad also receive initial guidance on start-up-related issues concerning residence rights and, where necessary, are referred to the relevant authorities.

Researchers are supported in exploring potential applications and commercial opportunities arising from their research findings:
- identify potential fields of application and target groups
- Examine commercialisation and start-up options
- tap into suitable funding programmes and technology transfer channels
- plan the next steps in collaboration with relevant partners

Those interested in setting up a business are supported in establishing contacts with relevant partners and exchanging ideas with other start-up teams and experienced founders:
