Profile
As a Professor of Business Administration with a focus on Human Resources and Organisation at Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, I explore in my teaching, research and higher education management how organisations can be designed to be humane, responsible and fit for the future.
In my teaching, I convey business administration and organisation-related content, with a particular focus on human resources, leadership, strategy and organisational behaviour. It is important to me to connect academic concepts with practical questions and to enable students to engage critically, reflectively and responsibly with organisations.
I teach in the following degree programmes: International Business and Management (IBM), Gender and Diversity (GD), Childhood Education (KP), Sustainable Tourism (ST) and International Relations (IR).
The different academic perspectives represented in these degree programmes offer numerous opportunities to connect economic, social and organisational interrelationships. Interactive teaching formats, dialogue among equals and the application of theoretical concepts to real-world cases are central elements of my teaching.
My research focuses on human resources and organisation. My main areas of interest include Emotional Work, New Work in higher education, humanity in businesses and organisations, incentive systems for professors, and higher education management.
In addition, I am interested in organisational behaviour, the design of new working environments, and the impact of artificial intelligence on people, leadership and collaboration in organisations. My work focuses on how structures, working conditions and technologies shape people’s experiences and actions, and on how organisations can be designed in a responsible manner.
In academic self-governance, I am currently serving my second term as Chair of the Senate of Rhine-Waal University. In this role, I contribute to key university-wide development processes and support dialogue among the university’s various departments, areas and status groups.
Within the Faculty of Society and Economics, I am Co-Chair, together with Prof. Dr Eva Maria Hinterhuber, of the Competence Centre for Innovative Learning and Teaching (ccilt). The ccilt is dedicated to the further development of innovative, quality-oriented and student-centred teaching and learning formats.
In addition, I am involved in the following committees and working groups: the Commission for Development Planning and Finance (KoEFi), the Faculty of Society and Economics’ Decentralised Finance Commission, the Sustainability Strategy Working Group, and the HEP Working Group “New Work and Quality of Life on Campus”.
Through these activities, I combine teaching, research and academic self-governance. My aim is to contribute to the development of a university that is academically excellent, socially responsible, sustainable and open to new forms of learning and working.

My research focuses on the design of humane, high-performing and future-oriented organisations. My main areas of interest include emotional labour, New Work in higher education, humanity in businesses and organisations, incentive systems for professors, and higher education management. In addition, I examine questions relating to organisational behaviour and the impact of artificial intelligence on employees, leadership and collaboration. At the heart of my work is the question of how organisational structures, working conditions and technologies shape people’s experiences, actions and well-being—and how organisations can be designed in a responsible manner.
