Profile
Following an early success in programming a geographic information system and a rather mediocre position as a forestry worker as part of my community service, I studied political science, philosophy, business administration and economics at RWTH Aachen University and Marburg University, where I also obtained my PhD with a thesis on collective actors between competition and regulation. Before joining the HSRW, I worked and taught at various research institutions and universities, mainly in the field of business cycles and European economic policy. At the HSRW, I teach various modules in the field of economics, am actively involved in committee work – including as Chair of the Commission for Development Planning and Finance – and, as one of four focus professors at the HSRW, promote political participation within the university. Since 2004, I have been editing the academic journal European Journal of Economics and Economic Policies: Intervention (EJEEP), which I co-founded and which has been published for several years as a Diamond Open Access journal by the British publisher Edward Elgar (>EJEEP submission page, >EJEEP issues and articles). I am a member of the co-ordination committee of the Forum for Macroeconomics and Macroeconomic Policies (FMM) and a liaison professor for the Hans Böckler Foundation.
