Digital sovereignty, artificial intelligence and responsibility in software development: on 7 November, three fascinating talks await you at the Kamp-Lintfort campus. Free of charge, no registration required, and open to anyone interested!
How can we safeguard our digital independence? Can people without any programming skills develop their own websites with the help of AI? And what responsibility do we bear when designing digital products? Three talks at the TYPO3camp RheinRuhr will address these questions.
The programme is explicitly aimed not only at developers, but also at students from all disciplines, university staff and anyone else in the region with an interest in the subject.
Programme
1.45 pm – Welcome
2.00 pm – Digital Sovereignty in Europe
Jeffrey A. McGuire (Jam)
Why is digital independence so important for Europe? What role do open source, data protection and control over digital infrastructures play? This talk will explain why digital sovereignty is a strategic necessity and outline specific courses of action.
3.00 pm – Zero lines of code, yet still online: Vibecoding for beginners
Josefine Christmann
Developing your own website without any programming knowledge? Josefine Christmann demonstrates how artificial intelligence can be used to create a complete website with a login, photo upload and customised design. The limitations and challenges of these new possibilities will also be highlighted.
4.00 pm – Code is never neutral.
Antonia Fedder
Technical decisions influence who digital products work for and who may be excluded. This talk explores how bias and exclusion arise in digital systems and why inclusion and accountability are key components of good product development.
The talks can be attended individually or as part of the full programme. No prior knowledge of software development is required.
