The relaunch is continuing to take shape – we are currently in the content migration phase, which is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2025. This process will take several months and requires close cooperation across the entire institution.
All areas that have a web presence on the homepage and maintain it are affected – including departments, projects, faculties, institutions, student councils and working groups.
To make this transition as efficient and resource-friendly as possible for everyone involved, the web relaunch team has been working on careful planning and preparation for some time now.
Preparing for the sprint
First, sign up for your sprint and a training session. For each new page or subpage you wish to create, please complete a profile form in good time before the start of your sprint period. This will ensure optimal preparation and a smooth implementation.
Take this opportunity to check which pages may no longer be needed, which can be merged, and where your workspace should be located on the website. You can record all this information in the profile form.

Your training for the website relaunch
Your training will take place either at the start of your first sprint week or online in advance. A member of the website relaunch team will guide you through all the relevant content elements, discuss the layout of your pages on the new website, and assign you a role with the appropriate editorial rights.
Please allow up to three hours for the training. To help you prepare, we have created an overview of all available content elements as well as an editorial guide to help you get to grips with TYPO3 and understand the new possibilities.
Support during the working phase
Once the training is complete, you will begin the practical work on your website. During the 14-day sprint period, we will be on hand to provide feedback, assist with technical queries and help resolve any issues that arise.
You will also receive a writing guide and a style guide containing an overview of all content elements to help you create your pages. During the working phase, you can use a form to send us error reports or feedback at any time.
All your content should be entered by the end of the sprint. Before the process is completed, we will review your pages together and clarify any outstanding questions.

Planning your sprint for content migration
Choose a time slot for your sprint during which you can devote your full attention to content migration.
****If you are working on the migration and maintenance of pages together with your department or editorial team, please register together for one of the 14-day sprint sessions.****
The website comprises over 120 sections with more than 5,000 active pages and around 300 editors. To coordinate the process efficiently, content migration takes place in fixed time slots. Each department, institute, secretariat or student council receives targeted training and support within an allocated 14-day sprint.
The content migration is organised according to an agile management approach, so that you can enter your content with our support within these two weeks.
Schedule for a 14-day sprint:
Before the sprint: Submission of page briefs.
Start of the sprint: Participation in training sessions and preparation of the submitted page briefs by our team.
During the sprint: Migration with continuous support and feedback loops. Completed pages are returned to our support team for examination and final approval.
This structured approach ensures an efficient and smooth implementation of the content migration.
Kick-off event
The website relaunch is being coordinated by the project management team (see image). They are supported by various staff members. Student assistants are also helping the team.
Please always contact the team via the central email address.

Frequently Asked Questions
A sprint is a fixed work phase with a clearly defined goal – a concept from agile project management. In our website relaunch, a sprint lasts 14 days (or 10 working days) and aims to complete the content migration for a specific work area. Everyone who signs up for this period works together on the implementation.
We rely on this structured method so that we can offer a reliable number of training sessions and support without overburdening our team alongside their ongoing tasks. At the same time, sprint planning helps us to better assess in which weeks a higher support workload arises and when capacities are more evenly distributed.
At the start of your first sprint week – or even before it begins – you will receive a personalised online training session. This will be delivered by a member of the web relaunch team. Throughout the 14-day sprint, we will be on hand to provide feedback, answer any questions and help you overcome any challenges.
You will also have access to helpful resources:
Writing guide – support for creating an engaging and search engine optimised design for your pages.
Style guide – an overview of all content elements to help you with structured implementation.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the project coordination team at any time.
During the training sessions, you will gain the basic knowledge you need to work on the new website independently. Please allow up to three hours for this.
What to expect from the training session:
- An introduction to the key content elements
- Discussion of the new structure and placement of your pages on the website
- Review of which pages could potentially be merged
To ensure the training runs smoothly, we ask you to complete a profile for each (sub)page in advance.
Your editorial rights in the new system:
- Standard editors – editing and adding the most common content
- Editors with extended rights – They can also manage news, the download centre and events.
- Chief editors – More comprehensive rights, such as creating or deleting pages. This role is usually intended for the person with primary responsibility for a division or Department.
As soon as you realise that you will be unable to attend your sprint session (e.g. due to illness), please let us know as soon as possible. In this case, please try to register for an alternative sprint session.
If a last-minute rebooking is not possible or all slots are already fully booked, please appoint a substitute to take part in the sprint on your behalf.
Even after your sprint has ended, you will still be able to continue working on your pages. Please note, however, that the web relaunch team will then be focusing its attention on the next group of sprint participants and will therefore no longer be able to offer the same level of support.
To ensure the process runs efficiently for everyone, we recommend that you complete the content work as far as possible within your sprint period.
No, they do not run simultaneously. Once the new site has been fully migrated and approved, the old site will be deactivated and the new version will go live. After that, the old pages will no longer be accessible for data backup purposes. However, you will be informed of the schedule well in advance so that you can prepare accordingly.
Questions from the kick-off event
The website has been redesigned in line with the corporate identity and made more user-friendly. The basic framework of the design has already been established and is based on a clear, intuitive layout with straightforward navigation. Our aim is to present the content in a contemporary and appealing way, whilst optimising the user experience.
Yes, it will. We are implementing the latest accessibility standards. Both technically and in terms of design, we ensure that everything is accessible to people with disabilities. This includes, among other things, support for screen readers and the option to adjust font sizes.
Content accessibility remains the responsibility of the editors.
For additional support, we recommend taking a look at the features of the ‘Eye-Able’ system.
To upload an image, open an existing page in the backend and click on ‘Create new content’. Then select the ‘Images only’ option.
- In the navigation bar, switch from the “General” tab to the “Images” tab
- Upload the desired image.
- In the “Appearance” tab, further settings are available to customise the image.
A separate form must be completed for each page that is to appear on the new website and will have its own title.
- Merging multiple pages: If several existing pages are to be combined into a single new page, please enter all relevant old links in a single form.
- Creating subpages: Each additional subpage requires its own form. Please note in the comments field that it is a subpage.
The 14-day sprint phase offers you targeted training, support and feedback. In addition, you can continue working on your pages independently – right up until the planned launch of the website in the third quarter of 2025. Make the most of these two weeks to get as much of your content ready as possible, as the web relaunch team will be prioritising support for registered participants during this time.
Once you have finalised your pages, please inform the web relaunch team so that Examination and approval can take place.
The main pages have already been identified and scheduled. By actively involving all editors, we are ensuring that all relevant content is taken into account. In addition, there will be a test run to check that all migrated pages are complete. If you notice any missing pages or content, you can report them at any time using an online form.
