A warm welcome to the Faculty of Technology and Bionics. We’re delighted that you’ve chosen to study with us. On this page, you’ll find information designed to help you get off to a good start with your studies.

Introductory session

Get to know your department and your fellow students! On Thursday, October 2, 2026, the Department Day will take place as part of Freshers' Week. This is your chance to get oriented within the department and meet not only your fellow students but also the academic advising team and the student council.

Programme

When? Where? What?
9.30 am – 11 am around Building 08 Student Council breakfast: Get to know your fellow students over coffee and sandwiches.
11.00 am – 12.45 pm 08.01.005 Get the basics: Our student advisor Elena Buksmann and her team will give you tips on settling in and getting started at the faculty
1.00 pm – 3.00 pm around Building 08 Time for relaxation and fun: The Student Council invites you to join in the games – there’ll be board games and party games.
3.30 pm – 4.45 pm Room 08.01.005 Meet your study guide: The study guide and her team will introduce themselves and what they have to offer.

Induction Week

The Engineering (B.Sc.) and Engineering for Sustainability (B.Sc.) degree programmes each have their own induction week or onboarding module. Once you know your timetable, you’ll be able to see what’s taking place, when and where.

Useful information for starting your studies: Here you’ll find, amongst other things, an overview of the various platforms and tools that students use at our university, as well as help with email accounts, Wi-Fi and so on.

Mathematics Bridging Course: Basic maths knowledge that you’ll need to get started on your degree. Check as soon as possible whether you can cope with the content and solve all the problems. You’ll need access to Moodle to complete the course.

Learning Workshop: Do you have gaps in your knowledge of maths or other core subjects? Are you struggling to keep up in lectures? Then come to the Learning Workshop, where you can ask all your questions, work through practice exercises under supervision and catch up on what you’re still missing. You’ll find the rooms and opening hours via the link.
