At the Faculty of Life Sciences, you’ll have access to state-of-the-art laboratory facilities for research and teaching – from the tropical greenhouse and the microscopy centre to specialised analytical and microbiology laboratories. Here’s an overview.

Tropical House

A tropical greenhouse with teaching and display gardens, opened in 2012 as a faculty laboratory. Climate chambers, a collection of tropical crops and around 3,000 m² of display gardens bring plant diversity to life. Visit the Tropical Greenhouse page

Microscopy Centre

A state-of-the-art microscopy centre equipped with light microscopy, 3D microscopy, atomic force microscopy and field-emission electron microscopy (including EDX analysis), a high-speed video system and goniometry. Find out more on the Research page.

Analytical and Microbiology Laboratories

For soil and plant analysis, equipment available includes ICP-OES, HPLC, root scanners and climate chambers. The Hygiene and Microbiology research group has laboratories with S2 safety classification. You can find details about the research groups on the Research page.
