The ‘Soil Science and Plant Nutrition’ research group, led by Prof. Dr Florian Wichern, is investigating how crop production systems can be strengthened – particularly in the face of increasing abiotic stress. In addition to the efficiency of the system (e.g. nutrient utilisation), the focus is on resilience and ecological services. To this end, the interactions between plant roots, the soil and soil microorganisms are being intensively researched.
