Student union

The Life Sciences Student Council represents your interests as a student and works to foster a positive atmosphere within the Faculty of Life Sciences. Here you can find out who we are and how to get in touch with us.

What is the student representative body?

At Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, there is a student union for each department. Upon enrolment, you automatically become a member of your faculty’s student union – your membership ends when you deregister. All Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes within the Faculty of Life Sciences together form a student council (one per department, not per degree programme).

What is the Student Council?

Your interests are represented by the Student Council (FSR) – elected representatives of the student body. It consists of five permanent members plus one member for every 100 students (so for 300 students, that makes 8 seats). You can also support the FSR as an associate member. We see ourselves as a link between the public, the Faculty, staff and students.

Our responsibilities

  • Acting as a liaison between students and the university
  • Providing advice on social and academic matters
  • Collaborating with the StuPa and AStA
  • Planning and organising events (e.g. Science Slam, Freshers’ Breakfast, Christmas market)
  • Sale of fair trade student union hoodies
